Street Soldiers [Priority]

The title of the budget-line hip-hop Street Soldiers collection implies that the disc contains nothing but hardcore rappers, and that's true to a certain extent. NWA, Public Enemy and Ice-T at their late '80s prime were as hard as it got. Still, the presence of Sir Mix-A-Lot and LL Cool J taints its hardcore appearence somewhat. Nevertheless, they don't prevent the disc from being an enjoyable collection of politically-charged rap, containing such staples as "Fuck tha Police," "Fight the Power," "Endangered Species," "6 'n the Mornin'," "911 Is a Joke" and "I Wanna Kill Sam." ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
