Open House: Elysée Montmartre Paris

Open House is a club night at the longstanding Paris club Elysée Montmartre. This comp -- mixed by resident DJs Lorenzo and Paco -- is heavy on the throbbing French-tronica bump popularized by Daft Punk. That group closes out the set here, contributing "Voyager" (from 2001's Discovery), but Open House is quite strong throughout, with an eye toward hook and melody and an irresistible four-on-the-floor groove. Highlights include the disco update of Crazy Penis' "You Started Something," Solar House's "Paradise," the stripped-down "LMF, Pt. 1" from Tutto Matto, and a remix of "Taxi Cab Confession," although the set is quite strong throughout. Recommended. ~ Johnny Loftus, All Music Guide
