Party Groove: Blue Ball

DJ Joe Gauthreaux mixes ten house tracks with with a Hi-NRG feel to them on Party Groove: Blue Ball, a mix album released by the Centaur label aimed at the circuit party scene. Gauthreaux is perhaps more notable for his unlikely DJ name as he is for his mixing. For the most part, the tracks play out and mix themselves. Thus, you're left to be engaged not so much by Gauthreaux as by the tracks themselves. Unfortunately, they aren't incredibly engaging either. In the end, the theme of Party Groove: Blue Ball tends to be the album's highlight, much more so than Gauthreaux or the tracks he mixes. ~ Jason Birchmeier, All Music Guide
