Colin McBean
Most know Colin McBean from his work as a member of techno duo the Advent, with techno producer Cisco Ferreira. The pair met after McBean moved to London from Derby to study fashion, where he worked with well-known designers such as Issey Miyake. While in London, McBean had met Keith Franklin from Bang the Party, leading to the formation of KCC, a DJ trio including McBean, Franklin, and Ferreira. By 1990, McBean and Ferreira were working as a duo, eventually releasing their seminal work on the Internal label -- along with an impressive EP on Tresor, Sound Sketches -- before starting their own label, Kombination Research. In 1999, the duo split up, and McBean began producing solo material as G Flame and Mr. G., a moniker under which he released techno-influenced house records on labels such as Mike Grant's Detroit-based Moods & Grooves label. ~ Jason Birchmeier
